Terms of Service

Effective date: March 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Block Skip ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the Block Skip browser extension (the "Extension") or by visiting blockskip.com (the "Website"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension and do not use the Website.

We may update these Terms as described in Section 12.

2. Description of Service

The Extension is a free add-on for Mozilla Firefox that blocks advertising and tracking requests using a list of network rules, hides leftover advertising containers on web pages, removes advertising from the YouTube player, and lets you keep allowlists of websites and pages where blocking is turned off. It includes optional auto-refresh and dark mode settings.

The Extension also provides a search engine called Google by Block Skip, which returns results from Google through search.blockskip.com. When you install the Extension, Firefox asks whether to make Google by Block Skip your default search engine. You may decline, and you may change your default search engine at any time in Firefox settings.

The Extension is distributed through the Mozilla Firefox Add-ons marketplace (addons.mozilla.org). The Website provides information and support for the Extension.

3. Permitted Use

You may install and use the Extension for your personal, non-commercial use on browsers you control. You agree that you will not:

  • Copy, modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works of the Extension or the Website.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Extension, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
  • Redistribute, sell, rent, lease or sublicense the Extension, or republish it on any add-on store or download site.
  • Use the Extension or Website for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates the rights of others.
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Website, search.blockskip.com or api.blockskip.com, or access them by automated means that place an unreasonable load on them.
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices in the Extension or on the Website.

4. Intellectual Property

The Extension, the Website and everything in them, including the Block Skip name, logo, icon, code, blocking rules, text and design, are owned by Block Skip or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Extension as described in Section 3. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Extension and Website is subject to our Privacy Policy at blockskip.com/privacy/, which explains what information we collect and how we use it. By using the Extension or Website you acknowledge that policy.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BLOCK EVERY ADVERTISEMENT OR TRACKER, THAT IT WILL WORK WITH EVERY WEBSITE, OR THAT THE EXTENSION OR WEBSITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE.

Websites change often. Blocking may cause some pages or features to display or behave differently, and some advertising may not be blocked. You are responsible for deciding whether the Extension is appropriate for your needs.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BLOCK SKIP AND ITS OWNERS, CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE EXTENSION OR WEBSITE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

The Extension is provided free of charge. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Extension or Website will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Extension (which is zero) or fifty US dollars (US$50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by law, and you may have additional rights.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Block Skip and its owners, contractors and suppliers from any claims, damages, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or your misuse of the Extension or Website.

9. Third-Party Services

The Extension interacts with third-party services that we do not control, including Mozilla's add-on platform, Google (which provides the results for Google by Block Skip), YouTube and other websites whose pages the Extension modifies in your browser, and FormSubmit, which delivers messages sent through the Website's contact form. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party content, services or practices, and we make no representations about them.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from Firefox. Instructions are on the uninstall page. We may suspend or end your access to the Extension, the Website or the search service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections 4, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13 survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Extension or the Website will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction that grants you rights that cannot be waived by contract, including rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, nothing in this Section limits those rights or your ability to bring a claim in the courts of your home country where the law allows it.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Terms on the Website and change the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be indicated by the updated effective date. Your continued use of the Extension or Website after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Extension and Website.
